Spain in the XIX century
A first look at the political picture of Spain in the 19th century shows a difficult period of instability and conflict. It was a century of trauma.
This period reflects a fight between two ideas:
On the one hand we have the old, the so-called "Ancien régime" or absolute monarchy, supported by a conservative Church and the privileged aristocracy, and on the other hand a new, unstable search of freedom for the people, called liberalism.
